Lee is from South Shields in the North East of England. He started performing stand-up comedy in 1998.

In 1999 he formed the Soup Comedy Show, a monthly sketch show performed at the Hyena Comedy Club in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The show ran for 3 years.

In 2004 he formed a double-act with fellow stand-up comedian and Soup member, Jason Cook. ‘Die Clatterschenkenfietermaus’, or ‘The Clatters’ are Europe’s Worst Pop Band and headlined stand-up comedy nights around the country for 3 years. They have also appeared on Paramount Comedy’s ‘The World Stands Up’. They performed two Edinburgh shows in 2005 and 2006. They are still available for live performances.

In 2004 Lee moved to Manchester. He became part of the ‘Bastard Funny’ sketch show in 2006 with fellow comedy actors and writers from the North West, including Peter Slater. The show ran for 2 years.

In 2004 Lee and fellow Soup member Ben Traynor began writing a new stand-up character ‘The White Chris Rock’. The character is still performed occasionally, most recently as a guest at one of Stewart Lee’s shows at the Bloomsbury Theatre, London.

In 2006 Lee and Ben began writing the stand-up character Mick Sergeant (Comedian and Revolutionary). Mick has since been crowned Hull Comedian of the Year in 2007 and been nominated by UK comedy website Chortle for their comedy awards 2008 in the ‘Best Variety Act or Character Act’ category. Mick performed his first Edinburgh Fringe Festival show at The Stand Four last year.

In 2008 Lee performed a series of characters for Virgin Media’s ‘Comedy Flannel’. He can currently be seen in Nige’s Capital of Culture Shows at The Unity Theatre, Liverpool. He also appeared in Peter Slater’s ‘Comedy Lab’ on E4 last autumn.
