Biography:

Sophie is an Actress and a Writer. Born in Glasgow and raised in London where she is now based.

Putting both skills to great use, Sophie wrote a one person show, When to Run, and then performed it to critical acclaim at The Soho Theatre. Next up was Fight Face; about a fight outside a kebab shop. Lots of characters but just two actors and featuring pioneering subtitles and animations that both deaf audiences and hearing audiences can enjoy.

In 2009 Sophie landed the lead role of Gabby in Channel 4's Cast Offs; a hard hitting, darkly comic drama written by Jack Thorne and produced by Eleven Films. Cast Off's was nominated for the Royal Television Society's Best Drama Series Award 2010 and a ROSE D'OR..

Radio work includes her play Carbon Cleansing (for BBC Radio 4) The Verb (BBC Radio 3) and the forthcoming London Nights Season (written and performed Live and exclusively for Radio 4)

Since the success of Cast Offs, Sophie has been writing for channel 4, trying her hand at Stand-Up, and writing/performing her own internet series Deaf Faker..

Tin Bath is a theatre company formed by Sophie Woolley and director Gemma Fairlie. The company produces exciting interactive theatre that is accessible to deaf and hard of hearing people. They have created a unique way of captioning theatre that uses animation, graphics, text and visual jokes. The result is part video game, part cartoon and entertaining to all. All of which are beautifully portrayed in Bee Detective which opens in Brighton May 2012..
