A Revenger's Musical.
After The Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2010 David and The Penny Dreadfuls won the Darkchat awards for Best Comedy - for their 2010 Penny Dreadfuls Sketch Show - and Best Supporting Role - for their musical turn in Gutted. David performed his debut solo show Shamblehouse a one man sketch comedy show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2011.
Praise for The Penny Dreadfuls:
Winner Best Comedy Brighton Fringe 2008
Over 30 5* reviews in recent years
Fast, furious and wildly OTT these boys deliver the comedy goods
- Time Out ****
Colossal fun...the physical comedy complements the verbal sparring to put this show at the top of its class
- Chortle ****
Think "A Bit of Fry and Laurie" with a dash of "Ripping Yarns" and a twist of "Big Train"...Grab the chance to catch the Dreadfuls live
- The Guardian
Praise for Gutted:
David Reed, Thom Tuck and Humphrey Kerr (aka the Penny Dreadfuls) bring an extra dimension of fun to the murderous proceedings.
- The Stage
The Penny Dreadfuls as the sinister three men of varying heights are an especial joy.
- The Independent
Praise for Shamblehouse:
"There’s no shortage of heart and soul…Reed is a master”
– The Independent
There is no questioning it: David Reed is cool. He owns the room before the show even starts
- Fringe Review
David has recently started a new weekly podcast called Film Fandango which is aired on Absolute Radio every Thursday. David co-hosts this show with Danielle Ward. (The Dave Gorman Show) Here they discuss new releases and classic films with one of their comedy pals. Be warned - this is not a review show, it's meandering movie chat! Previous guests on the show include: Stephen Moffat, Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, Orlando Bloom, Milla Jovovich, Justin Timberlake & Johnny Depp!
