KATE COPSTICK

Roles: Presenter, Expert, Writer
Representing Agent: Debi Allen
Biography:

Copstick is best known for her roles on the children's TV shows No. 73 and ChuckleVision. She also played Marlene Marlowe in Marlene Marlowe Investigates and performed as part of the ensemble cast of former Saturday morning kid's show, On the Waterfront. Copstick executive produced Natural Born Racers, a TV series that follows the Virgin Media R6 cup.

Copstick was most recently a judge on ITV1's prime time programme Show me the Funny and was noted for her honest but sometimes harsh criticism. Her reputation as a comedy critic is well known throughout the industry. The first person to give Michael McIntyre a five star review, Kate Copstick has seen more live comedy, and spotted more new talent, than any other comedy critic in the UK. At the Edinburgh Fringe, she was a Perrier Comedy Award judge in 2003 and 2004 and a Malcolm Hardee Award judge in 2008-2011. She is also chief comedy reviewer for The Scotsman newspaper and lends her voice to the announcements at Fort William train station.

For years she has been the most controversial critic at the Edinburgh Festival, with a fearsome reputation on the circuit as being the toughest of the tough, who can either make or break a career.

Copstick is also well known as a commentator on human sexuality. After years writing for the Erotic Review, she enjoyed it so much she bought the company.

She has spent a lot of time in Kenya working with HIV+ women and their families. Through CWAC (Children With AIDS Charity), of which she is vice-chair, she has started Mama Biashara (Business Mother) which works to set these women up in small businesses thus making them financially independent. She made Positive Thinking for BBC1 - the UK's first television documentary on children and HIV/AIDS for children. She is a patron of the Waverley Care Trust.
