MCNEIL AND PAMPHILON

Roles: Comedian, Writer
Representing Agent: Becky Williams
Biography:

STEVE MCNEIL AND SAM PAMPHILON began performing sketch comedy together in 2009. In December of that year their sitcom End To End won the 2009 Sitcom Trials Grand Final at Leicester Square Theatre; the show gained interest from both the BBC and Channel 4 and is now in development.

In 2010, during their time at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, in addition to performing their critically-acclaimed debut show, Addicted To Danger! at the Pleasance Dome, they both also performed as part of Phil Nichol's Comedians Theatre Company's Itch: A Scratch Event at the Pleasance Courtyard, and reached the Semi-Finals of the prestigious 'So You Think You're Funny?' Competition.

In 2011 they reached the semi-finals of the Amused Moose Laugh Off and the final of the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year Competition, in which they performed at The Barbican theatre. This was quickly followed by an appearance at the Shaftesbury Theatre as part of 'Comedy Rush', alongside such acts as Isy Suttie, Phil Nichol, Four Poofs and a Piano, Rich Hall and The Chuckle Brothers! The short film they performed in, The Office Orphan, was shortlisted for the 2011 Los Angeles Comedy Shorts Film Festival and won an Audience Award at the Cofilmic Festival. They both filmed throughout June and July for BBC Three's Funny in 15 and MTV's Flash Prank, which began airing worldwide that Autumn.

McNeil and Pamphilon completed their 2011 Edinburgh run with critically-acclaimed show, Which One Are You?, developed at their monthly London residency, recommended by Spoonfed, London is Funny and Chortle, and Critic's Choice in Time Out. The show was one of the Top Ten shows in this year's Amused Moose Laughter Awards.

2012 got off to a flying start with the duo filming two tasters with the BBC. They have also written several sketches which have been purchased by various production companies and
they are working on online and radio projects whilst also writing their new Edinburgh show.

The boys are directed by MATT HOLT, who directed on all three series of ITV's Comedy Cuts, the second series of BBC's sitcom, Lunch Monkeys, Brendon Burns' 2007 if.comedy-winning show, and Idiots Of Ants 2009 Edinburgh Comedy Award-nominated sketch show.

If Morecambe and Wise were born in the 1980s and found themselves in dissatisfying nine-to-five jobs, then perhaps they would have written a sketch show a little like this. A fine example of sharp, cut-and-thrust comedy: Electrifying gags, executed with enviable panache. Come! Gorge your humour-bones on face-achingly funny comedy.
- Three Weeks *****

Just when it looked like the sketch show might be eating itself to a slow, agonising death, along comes Steve McNeil and Sam Pamphilon to stick a hot poker into its dying carcass and kickstart the whole shebang. An unusually high standard of innovation and comic writing.
