Biography:
John-Luke has written and performed for a wide range of comedy shows – his sketch show Spats ran for two series on BBC 7, and he spent a year as the BBC Radio Comedy Department's Writer in residence.
John-Luke writes and performs stand-up on the circuit, appearing on BBC3's Live from the Edinburgh Fringe in 2011, with a spin-off "Insult Generator" made for the BBC website. He co-runs the fortnightly Alternative Comedy Memorial Society in Islington - fast becoming a favourite among acts and audiences alike.
John-Luke has performed runs of his very well-received solo show John-Luke-Roberts Distracts You From A Murder at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and at the Soho Theatre. He will be returning to the Fringe in 2012 with a brand new solo show. He is also half of the sketch group The Behemoth.
He has been trained on the Royal Court Studio Group for playwrights. His play "Vichyssoise Hoo Ha" is currently in development with director Clare Lizzimore, and his play "Memory Man" was shortlisted for the Royal Court's 2012 Young Writer's Festival.
'structurally impressive, constantly inventive and playfully mischievous... A unique, highly accomplished debut hour from a talent to watch.' **** Time Out ??
'a certain touch of theatricality and conceptual thinking... fantastically ornate but deeply silly brand of comedy, dripping with absurd puns and utterly unexpected left turns.' The Guardian
