JEMMA FORTE
|
| Representing Agent: Debi Allen |
|
Biography:
In 1997 Jemma won a year's presenting contract at the Disney Channel. She ended up staying for five years over the course of which she clocked up hours and hours of live studio experience, interviewed everyone from Britney Spears to David Beckham and hosted the Kids Awards at London Arena in front of 12,000 people.
Disney 'let Jemma out' for other projects including three series of Sub Zero, a live children's game show on BBC2 and It's a Girl Thing, a prime time, fashion based show for Channel Four, made by Optomen TV. This was actually a scripted drama and Jemma's first real taste of a big acting job.
After leaving Disney Jemma presented Wedding Day for ITV daytime and House Price Challenge a property show, also for ITV daytime. Then Jemma presented the live National Lottery Show Come and Have a Go with Julian Clary on Wednesday and Saturday nights on BBC1. Prior to having her children Jemma had dabbled in journalism for many years and during her spare time wrote a novel. Thinking it was just a hobby she was initially loathe to send it anywhere, but was glad she eventually did for it was snapped up by Penguin books. Me & Miss M was published in 2009. It tells the tale of a girl who works for a nightmare Hollywood diva. Penguin dubbed it 'The British answer to The Devil Wears Prada' and it goes without saying it was partially inspired by Jemma's own experiences!
Praise for Me & Miss M:
Now Magazine - A wonderfully funny and heartfelt
story
Heat Magazine - A fabulously funny, sweet story
Marie Claire - Romantic dilemmas, harsh life lessons make this a scandalously fun debut, loosely inspired by Forte's own experiences as a Hollywood PA
OK Magazine - A laugh out loud read
Company Magazine - Plenty of laughs, romance and red carpets make it a great read
Australian Women's Weekly - The perfect beach read - witty, fast paced, addictive, with non saccharine romance and shrewd observations about the cult of celebrity
Me and Miss M has been translated into six other languages and now Jemma is looking forward to the publication of her second novel From London with Love which comes out on July 21st also with Penguin. From London with Love is about Jessica Granger whose father, Edward, is a famous actor who played the world's favourite James Bond back in the '80's'. Her mother was also the Bond girl 'Heavenly Melons' and sick of her pampered lifestyle Jessica leaves LA for London, seeking independence in a city where nobody knows her name.
Jemma reads voraciously but also adores film, cookery, property and travel. Her proudest achievements are her two children Lily and Freddie and her dream is to one day combine her two great passions of presenting and books.
