Biography:

Martel is a newspaper columnist, radio and television presenter.

Martel is a regular showbiz expert on ITV's Lorraine, OKTV! and Sky News. She also continues to write for The Scottish Sun.

Her debut novel Scandalous, a romantic comedy, was published by Michael Joseph at Penguin in April 2010 (www.rupertheath.com) and she's currently writing her second novel.

After her apprenticeship, came training in news, features, sport, travel and motoring at the paper's offices in Manchester, Glasgow and London, followed by a stint at the Daily Telegraph in Sydney, Australia. Martel then landed a job as a showbiz reporter which saw her interview hundreds of stars including Tom Cruise, Kylie Minogue, Sir Sean Connery and Nicole Kidman.

Martel is a freelance journalist and still writes a weekly opinion column for The Scottish Sun. Martel has had a story included in the charity anthology The Best Day Of My Life alongside the likes of comedian Alan Carr and Stacey and Gavin actor James Corden, published in October 2008.

Martel gained experience as a showbiz expert on LK Today, MTV and Five before being offered her own show, Scotland's primetime car programme Drivetime. She's in great demand for talking heads shows for her showbiz knowledge and great sense of humour.

Training:

After training to be a lawyer at Edinbugh University, Martel applied for The Sun's first graduate traineeship. She beat 3,000 hopefuls for a two year apprenticeship which started at London's City University at its prestigious postgraduate print school.
