Luisa Omielan is a comedian, improviser and actress, a rising star of the UK comedy scene. She has been performing on the London circuit since May 2008. Luisa was the underground smash hit at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2012 where she performed her 5 Star, critically acclaimed, debut sell-out solo show, What Would Beyonce Do?! – strongly agreed to be one of the most successful debut shows to come out of the Fringe.
After a sell-out run at The Comedy Caf, she performed 10 nights in the main house at Soho Theatre - extra dates were added due to phenomenal public demand, eventually leading to the run being extended five times. Luisa then took her show back to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2013 for a limited run at the Gilded Balloon. This "limited" run was then extended for a further seven shows due to popular demand!
What Would Beyonce Do?! made it on to every single list of must-see comedy shows in 2012 and 2013.
2014 saw Luisa performing What Would Beyonce Do?! across the pond in LA at the prestigious Upright Citizens Brigade and in New York, where she did a four night run at Subculture, Bleeker Street. She has also had a string of sold out UK dates in 2014 including performances at Latitude Festival, The Royal Albert Hall and the Udderbelly on Southbank, as well as taking the show to Dublin and Singapore comedy festivals.
2014 ended with another sell-out show for Luisa, this time at Leicester Square theatre.
Overall, Luisa has taken What Would Beyonce Do?! to Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, Toronto, Singapore, New York, LA, and is touring Australia from March to May 2015.
Luisa’s second show, Am I Right Ladies?! was met with more for the full run of Edinburgh 2014, received 5 star reviews, and has had 2 sell out runs in the main house at Soho Theatre in February 2015.
Luisa debuted her first comedy pilot for Radio 2, Luisa Omielan’s Party and made various TV appearances, including BBC’s Miranda Christmas Special and programmes for ITV and Channel 4 throughout 2014.
Luisa is currently working on her debut book 'What Would Beyonce Do?!' after signing a deal with Century, the book launches in spring 2016.
Luisa has a background in improv; she previously ran comedy improv classes for adults and kids in London, having studied improvisation and clowning at the infamous US improve school, Second City, the iO (Improv Olympic) and Comedy Sports Theatre in Chicago. She also hosts the hugely popular night in Shoreditch, Musical Bingo.
Luisa has been featured in Vogue, In Style, Cosmopolitan, Stylist, Grazia, Marie Claire, Sunday Times Magazine, The Times, Guardian, Independent, Observer, Daily Telegraph, Time Out London and New York.
