Biography:
Sy Thomas is a presenter, actor and stand-up comedian based in London, England.
Most of Sy's early presenting work has been for children's channel Nickelodeon. He began working on Nick's live breakfast show The Crunch in 2006, playing small comedy character roles, and generally dressing-up in ridiculous costumes. However within a few months Sy had made such an impression at Nickelodeon that they asked if he'd like to screen-test as a presenter. His first presenting role was on the hugely popular live half-term show ME:TV which was subsequently commissioned by Nick USA and won a BAFTA. Since then Sy has presented Nickheads, the huge live summer project Slime Across the UK. and flew to Los Angeles to cover the Kids Choice Awards USA in Mission KCA's. In October he co-hosted the first ever UK Kids Choice Awards alongside McFly. Sy also recently made a guest appearance on The Ed and Oucho Show on CBBC.
He is also something of a accidental adventurer. In 2006 Sy and fellow comic Alexis Dubus attempted the Plymouth to Banjul Challenge - travelling 4000 miles through West Africa, across 8 countries and the Sahara desert in a clapped-out car bought for £100. The film End of the Road from Swift Films, documenting their epic voyage, is currently in post-production. Sy also recently completed the No Laughing Matter Three Peaks Challenge alongside a group of other comedians for the charity Act4Africa which was also filmed for a documentary.
Sy has also worked as a stand-up throughout the UK at venues including Amused Moose, Chuckle Club, Comedy Cafe, Jongleurs, The Pleasance, London and Edinburgh, and the Comedy Store, London and Manchester. Much of Sy's work comes as a compere, and he has been honing his skills as resident host at Falling Down with Laughter in London Bridge, one of the city's best-regarded small comedy venues.
Sy has also performed sketch comedy, character comedy and improv on the circuit, and has acted in fringe favourites Newsrevue at the Canal Caf, Shakespeare for Breakfast at C-Venues, Edinburgh, and Shakespeare for Christmas at The Pleasance, London. He is also a performer, writer and founding member of upcoming sketch comedy group Cat of the Week , who are performing their debut show at this year's Leicester Comedy Festival.
